Jonathan K. Jennings, MD is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, joint replacement, and shoulder and elbow conditions.
A native of Enterprise, Alabama, Dr. Jennings graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. After his orthopaedic surgical training, he completed a Sports Medicine / Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship with OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC.
Dr. Jennings has a special interest in sports medicine and providing care for athletes of all ages. During his time in Charlotte, he served as an assistant team physician with the Carolina Panthers (NFL) and worked with the organization during the 2015 NFL Combine. He also served as an assistant team physician for other professional and collegiate teams including the Charlotte Knights (AAA minor league baseball affiliate – Chicago White Sox), UNC-Charlotte, Davidson College, and Gardner-Webb University. He has also authored multiple research papers in major journals on topics related to orthopaedic surgery. His most recent research is evaluating femoral tunnel placement in ACL reconstruction.
Some of the procedures that Dr. Jennings performs are: Open and Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery (Rotator Cuff Repair, Labral Repair, Shoulder Replacement), Open and Arthroscopic Knee Surgery (Ligament Reconstruction, Meniscus Surgery, Cartilage Preservation) and Joint Replacement (Shoulder, Knee and Hip – MAKO Robotic technology).
Dr. Jennings is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Alabama Orthopaedic Society.
In his time away from work, Dr. Jennings enjoys running, playing golf, waterskiing, and spending time with his family at the lake.
